Obituary of Carter John Matthews

Just four hours after coming into the world, Carter John Matthews passed away peacefully in his parents’ arms at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, MO. During that time, he touched many lives and was loved by so many.

Weighing a little over four pounds, Carter was still able to wrap his fingers around everybody’s hearts. He had a few wisps of curly dark hair and the acclaimed Matthews chin. He was born at 3:45 a.m. Thursday, September 19, 2019 in Butler County and passed away the same day at 8:30 a.m.

Carter john joins his grandma, Susan Matthews; his great-grandpa, Ab McKnight; his great-grandparents, Earl and Elizabeth Matthews and great-grandparents, Betty and Grant Cooper; and one cousin, Tyler Rieth; in heaven.

Surviving are his parents, Dustin Matthews and Kimberly Foster; one brother, Colton Foster; one sister, Hannah Matthews, all of Doniphan, MO. Carter is also survived by his papa, Jim Matthews and grandma, Beverly McKnight and great-grandma, Joan McKnight, all of Doniphan, MO; Uncle Chad and Denise Matthews, Aunt Shannon and Jake Robinson, Aunt Crystal and Ricky Duncan, all of Doniphan, MO; Aunt Janet and Alan Rieth of Washington, KS; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

A service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Sunday, September 22, 2019 in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Walter Wells officiating. Burial will follow in the Hunt-White Memorial Gardens.
