Obituary of Carolyn Lou Burton
Carolyn Lou Burton, 83, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Saturday, March 9, 2019, peacefully at home, surrounded by her children.
She retired from Rowe Furniture in Poplar Bluff. She enjoyed camping, traveling, spending time with her family and her church family and reading her Bible. She was a member of Belleview Baptist Church.
On May 17, 1950, she married Billie L. Burton in Bernie, Missouri, and they were married for 67 years before his death on February 28, 2018.
Surviving are 3 daughters: Norma (Tony) Jamerson of Benton, Missouri, Janice (David) Messner of Doniphan, Missouri; Tammie (Donnie) Burton of Jonesboro, Arkansas; 1 son, Billie (Crystal) Burton of Doniphan, Missouri; 1 sister, Donna Quinn of Harrisonville, Missouri; 7 grandchildren, Angel, Steve, Brandon, Sarah, Paige, Tresa and Charlie; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Anthony and Nicolas; and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billie; her parents, Harry and Grace (Gaines) Holland; 2 sisters, Barbara (Gordon) Waggoner and her twin sister, Marilyn (Howard) Smith; 1 brother, Carl (Lula) Holland; and 1 granddaughter, Melissa McGhee Harper.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 14, 2019, at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will follow at noon in the funeral home chapel with Brother Jerry Cooper officiating. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Sycamore Hills Cemetery at Pyle City, Missouri.
