Obituary of Betty Katherine Murphy

Betty Katherine Murphy, 92, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Monday, February 18, 2019.

Mrs. Murphy, daughter of James Orval and Easter Savannah (Cates) Milner, was born July 6, 1926, in Detroit, Michigan.  She has been employed in accounting.

Mrs. Murphy was a member of the V. F. W. Ladies Auxiliary and was a former V. F. W. Ladies Auxiliary Woman of the Year.  She was a volunteer at the Lean-On-Me Food pantry, the Ripley County Museum, and was a member of the First Christian Church in Doniphan.  She enjoyed reading, traveling, the Girls Club, and dancing.

On September 7, 1945, she was married to Frank David Murphy in Detroit, Michigan, and he preceded her in death on September 2, 1984.

Also surviving are 2 daughters:  Katherine (Rick) Miller of Columbia, South Carolina, and Kimberly (Don) Wynne of Ellsinore, Missouri; 2 sons, David (Sharon) Murphy of Walnut Creek, California, and Matthew (Suk) Murphy of Reno. Nevada; 1 sister, Patsie Dunn of Canton, Michigan; 3 grandchildren, Bridgett Murphy, James Murphy and Rachel Murphy; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and cousins, including a special cousin, Mary Lou Boyd, as well as special extended family, Henry Dockins, Carolyn Cochran, and Patricia & Peter Johnston.

Visitation for Mrs. Murphy will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 22, 2019, at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan.  The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor John Harwell officiating.  Burial will be in the Doniphan City Cemetery.
