Joan L. Ayling, a longtime resident of Doniphan, passed away in her home on January 12 th , 2019, at the age of 66.

Born in Otsego, MI on February 2 nd , 1952 to parents Lee Wilson Titus and Irene Celia Titus (nee Nichols), Joan was the youngest of seven children. She graduated from Paw Paw High School in Paw Paw, MI., in 1972. Joan went on to study Art at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan. It was there that she met Robert L. “Bob” Ayling, Jr. The two were married on May 29 th , 1976. They moved to California shortly thereafter, where they continued to live, raising two daughters, before moving to Doniphan, in March 2004. Joan worked as a secretary at Doniphan United Methodist Church, where she made many friends. In her spare time, she enjoyed painting, crafting, reading, baking, and cooking. Joan was also deeply involved in her community, often volunteering to help out at church events.

Joan is survived by her daughters, Rebecca L. Varela and Jennifer L. Maddron, her brother Lawrence “Larry” Titus, and granddaughter Isabelle R. Varela, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Bob, as well as her sisters Joyce, Virginia, Madeline, and Linda, and her brother George.

A service is to be held at Doniphan United Methodist Church on January 26 th, 2019, at noon.

Her family would like to thank the wonderful people of Doniphan for welcoming Joan into their community, and for their continued support in their time of grief.
