Obituary of Richard Dawayne McGonigal

Richard Dawayne McGonigal, 62, of Naylor, Missouri, died Thursday, December 13, 2018, in rural Clay County, Arkansas.

Mr. McGonigal, son of Alan McGonigal and Delois (Gilliam) Dobbs, was born July 7, 1956, in St. Louis, Missouri.  He had worked for Mid America Steel Products in Corning.  Mr. McGonigal enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and tinkering on various engines.  He was a member of the Fairdealing Apostolic Church and was also a member of the Doniphan National Guard.  Richard was a veteran of the U. S. Army during the Vietnam era.

Richard was married to Rhoda Pigg (mother of Ethen and Joshua) and later wed Nina Mae Wallace.  She preceded him in death on January 10, 2015.  He was also preceded in death by his father and step-mother, Barbara McGonigal.

Surviving are 2 sons, Ethen (and Lori) McGonigal and Joshua (and Priscilla) McGonigal, both of Doniphan; his mother, Delois Dobbs of Doniphan; 4 sisters Viola (and Raymond) Haynes and Terry Hulett, both of Doniphan, Anita (and Al) Simpson of Naylor, Missouri, and Sherri Friel of Fairdealing, Missouri; 4 brothers, Steven McGonigal of Doniphan, Daniel (and Trudi) Ballou of Georgia, Keith (and Lori) Gilliam of Arkansas and Alex McGonigal of Fairdealing, Missouri; 4 grandchildren, Connor, Mackenzie, Chase and Kinsley; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will begin at noon Sunday, December 16, 2018, at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan.  The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastors Arlin West and Charles Carr, Sr., officiating.  Burial will be in the Cypress Creek Cemetery.
