Obituary of William "Bill" Berry Lane

William Berry (Bill) Lane, 92, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at his residence with his wife of 71 years at his side.

Mr. Lane, son of Oliver Lee and Bessie (Breshears) Lane, was born April 26, 1926, in Twist, Arkansas.  He had a career as a highly skilled welder for the Northern Indiana Public Service Company and retired to the Doniphan area.  Bill liked all work and especially enjoyed building things with his hands and working in his garden.  He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and proudly served his country during World War II.  Mr. Lane was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #3485 and of the Church of God.

On February 4, 1947, he was married to Ruby Brown in Harrisburg, Arkansas, and she survives.

Also surviving are 4 children:  William (Cheryl) Lane, Jr., LaPorte, Indiana, Lonnie Lee (Joanna) Lane and Richard Wayne (Dawn) Lane, both of Gatewood, Missouri, and Terry Lynn (Sheila) Lane of Duluth, Georgia; 1 sister, Mary Jane George of Michigan City, Indiana; and several grand, great grand and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 sister, Rosie Glass; and 1 brother, Richard Lane.

Visitation will take place Sunday afternoon, September 9, 2018, from 4-6- p.m. in the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan.  The funeral service will be Monday, September 10, at noon in the funeral home chapel with Brother Larry Bashaw officiating.  Burial will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Briar.
