Obituary of Billy Mac Stewart
Billy Mac Stewart, 84, long-time resident of Doniphan, Missouri, departed this life Wednesday evening, August 15, 2018, at his home.
Mr. Stewart, son of George Wilson and Eva May (Long) Stewart, was born October 15, 1933, in Trenton, Tennessee. He had been a self-employed farmer and, alongside his wife, operated Stewart’s Egg Farm for many years. Bill and Fran also owned and worked three different motels in Doniphan for an extended period of time. Additionally, he had worked in the postal service for a total of five years. Stewart was an active member of the community and had been prestigiously honored as Homecoming Parade Marshal several years ago. He enjoyed fishing, especially walleye, and was a faithful member of the Doniphan Church of God and had served on the Board of Trustees. Bill was a veteran of the armed forces and had served with the U. S. Coast Guard during the Korean War.
On October 31, 1958, he was married to Frances Barker in St. Louis, Missouri, and she survives.
Also surviving are 2 sons: Jimmy Stewart of Doniphan and David Stewart of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; and 2 grandchildren, Misty and Brennan Abbey of North Little Rock, Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a step-daughter, Kathy Whitman and her husband, Terry Whitman; and 2 brothers, Donald Stewart and Naron Stewart.
Visitation will take place Saturday evening, August 18, 2018, from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will follow Sunday afternoon, August 19, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brothers Dan Craig, Larry Earl and Larry Bashaw officiating. Burial will be in the Hunt-White Memorial Gardens in Doniphan.
