Obituary of Mark Allan Richey

Please share a memory of Mark to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Mark Allan Richey, 48 year-old resident of Doniphan, Missouri, formerly of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, was called to his Heavenly Home in the early morning hours of July 10, 2018, at his home in Doniphan.

Mark was born July 11, 1969, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, to Cloyce and Linda (Smith) Richey.

Mark spent his life in service to others as a law enforcement officer for Lawrence County Sheriff’s office, EMT and firefighter for Walnut Ridge where he earned the highest level of training – Firefighter 3.  After leaving the fire service, he began his career in management for Hunt Brothers Pizza, Hardee’s, Pizza Hut and J & P Flash Market stores that took him to several states.  As health problems began and travel became a hardship, he changed directions and became an insurance salesman, opening his own office, the Richey Agency, where he made countless friends and customers as he would often quote, “If I can’t be a blessing to you, then you don’t need to buy it”, and this is what he strove for daily helping whomever he could to the best of his ability.

Mark was passionate about many things but 2 of his greatest were his family and the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Mark is survived by his loving wife, Karen, of the home; his parents, Cloyce and Imogene Richey of Walnut Ridge; 3 sons, Wilson Richey of Portia, Arkansas, Bryce (Bailey) Morgeson of Pocahontas, Arkansas, and Brent (Jamie) Morgeson of Clinton, Oklahoma; 2 daughters, Brooklyn (Garry) Moore of Sedalia, Missouri, and Maranda Hotchkiss of Portia; 2 grandsons, Brently Morgeson and Braxton Richey; 1 brother, Brent; a favorite niece, Haley; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by both maternal and paternal grandparents, J C and Vivian Smith and Wilson and Evelyn Richey, and his mother, Linda Richey.

Mark will forever be remembered for his love of family and the memorable ornery catch phrases like, “Did you say somethin’, It’s beautimous, chop, chop tomahawk; and his all-time favorite, “I said your hair looks nice”.

Visitation will begin Saturday, July 14, 2018, at 5:00 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan.  The funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brothers Larry Earl and John Durham officiating.
