Obituary of Bill G. Jenkins
Bill G. Jenkins was born September 8, 1937 at Myrtle, Mo. to William Adrian Jenkins and Maggie (Henderson) Jenkins, and departed this life Sunday, June 10, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandchild. He attended Doniphan schools where he graduated. Upon graduation he married his high school sweetheart, Carol Nadine Jenkins on June 12, 1955. From that union were born 4 children, Marla (Lloyd) Lynxwiler of Doniphan, Bill A. (Dana) Jenkins of Steelville, MO., Robin (Christine) Jenkins of Avon, IN. and Christopher Jenkins of Jefferson City, MO.
He was always a self-employed businessman by vocation. His family was always a priority. He was the Dad that was playing pitch and catch or throwing a football. If a grandchild needed to be moved across the country he was there, or a loan, no problem.
He was very mechanical and a perfectionist at any project he undertook.
His Christian life was also important to him. Teaching Sunday school for many years and being a Deacon at First Baptist Church. He was also a community leader, being on the city council and serving as a Chief of the Volunteer Fire Department. He was instrumental in establishing the Rescue Team. He was also on the ambulance Board serving as chairman for many years.
Bill had a generous heart and a willing spirit to help those in need. He often could be found working on projects that benefited those less fortunate, such as cleaning and restoring homes after floods.
He will be missed by his loving wife, Carol, his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many friends.
Funeral services for Bill will be held at 4 PM on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Larry Earl officiating. Visiting will begin at 2 PM and burial will follow in the Doniphan Cemetery.
