Obituary of Gertrude Rowe

Ona Gertrude Rowe, 81, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, died Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at Ratliff Care Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.  She was a former resident of Doniphan, Missouri.

Mrs. Rowe, daughter of the late Henry and Lolah (Hall) Gaines, was born May 27, 1936.  She had worked at Vitronic Manufacturing Plant in Doniphan and later retired as an SMTS driver after 30 years of service.  Mrs. Rowe enjoyed cooking, sewing, doing crafts, traveling and working with her flowers and gardening.  She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Doniphan.

On October 5, 1952, she was married to Clayton Rowe in Gobler, Missouri, and he preceded her in death on July 22, 1998.

Surviving are 3 children:  Jackie (Mary) Rowe of Marble Hill, Missouri, Joey (and Flo) Rowe of Risco, Missouri, and Karen (and Jerry) Smith of Doniphan; 2 sisters, Betty Smith of Onarga, Illinois, and Marcell Lloyd of Choctaw, Oklahoma; 1 brother, Johnny Gaines of Washington, Kansas; 6 grandchildren, Becca Underwood, Jeffrey Rowe, Derek Smith, Nicholas Smith, Bridget Heiser and Rachael Rowe; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Saturday evening, April 28, 2018, from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan.  The funeral service will take place Sunday afternoon, April 29, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with Brother Luther Abbott officiating.  Burial will follow in New Hope Church Cemetery in Doniphan.
