Obituary of Marie Taylor

(Clara) Marie Taylor, 93, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Monday, September 19, 2011, at Westwood Hills Healthcare in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Mrs. Taylor was born Saturday, August 10, 1918, in Ripley County, Missouri, to Lemuel Hulet and Edna Pearl (Bowers) Thompson. She loved to cook for her family and friends, to talk about the past and tell stories of her family. She loved her church and her church family and always looked forward to seeing and hearing from her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Gardening, quilting and sewing were some of her beloved hobbies. Mrs. Taylor was a member of the Fairview General Baptist Church. She was married to Austin Simon on March 6, 1936, and he preceded her in death in July, 1963. She was married to Harrison Taylor on June 1, 1968, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 1990. Mrs. Taylor is survived by seven children and spouses; Lorell (and Ron) Scott of Babcock, Wisconsin, Everett (and Janie) Taylor of Sikeston, Missouri, Shelby (and Trennis) Stearns of Fisk, Missouri, JD (and Pam) Taylor of Troy, Missouri, David (and Glenda) Taylor of Casper, Wyoming, Gerald (and Trudy) Taylor of California, Missouri, Leatha (and Donnie) Sanford of Doniphan, Missouri; grandchildren, Mike and Lori Scott, Kevin and Roxanne Scott, Brian Taylor, Jaylynn and Theresa Taylor, Dylan Parsons, Darwin and Colleen Taylor, Dean and Christine Taylor, Lori and Steve Jones, Tina Taylor, Kayla and Jeremy Barnard, Lisa and Ken Hall, and Sheena Sanford; and great-grandchildren, Tara Scott, Ryan and Christine Scott, Shawn Taylor, Jason Billy Taylor, Logan, Aspen, Rylin and Kaiden Taylor, Jezania Taylor, Taylor Jones, Jackson and Kennedy Barnard, and Jacob and Austin Hall; and one sister Helen Etta (Thompson) Boshears of Doniphan, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, three brothers, Harry Clifford (Dick) Thompson, James Otis Thompson and Lemuel Lee Thompson, one sister, Charity Mae (Thompson) Kuykendall and one grandson, Jason Dewayne Taylor. Visitation for Mrs. Taylor will be Thursday evening, September 22, 2011, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral services will take place Friday afternoon, September 23, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Donnie Sanford officiating. Burial will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery.
