Obituary of Evelyn Joyce Staggs

 

Evelyn Joyce Staggs, 85, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at Southeast Health of Ripley County in Doniphan, Missouri.

Mrs. Staggs, daughter of Leslie and Mildred (Ranson) Harlan, was born March 13, 1932, in Stockport, Iowa.  She had worked in healthcare but was primarily a housewife.  Mrs. Staggs loved her family but she especially enjoyed being a mom and grandma.  She also liked to crochet, sing and play the piano.  She was of the Baptist faith.

On June 5, 1948, she was married to J. H. Staggs in Winterset, Iowa, and he preceded her in death on April 5, 2009.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Roma Ketchem, a great-granddaughter, Dealyn Cooper and a sister, Eileen Brown.

Surviving are 4 children:  Carolyn (Robert) Payne, Don Staggs and Kathy Lancaster, all of Doniphan and Steven (Darlene) Staggs of Fresno, California; 1 brother, Melvin Dale Harlan of Sidney, Nebraska; 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at noon on Monday, September 18, 2017, at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan.  The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Donnie Sanford officiating.  Burial will be in the Center Hill Cemetry.
