Obituary of Gary Van Switzer

Gary Van Switzer, 73, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Saturday April 8, 2017, at his residence in Doniphan. Mr. Switzer son of the late William Robert Switzer and Evalyn (Stevens) Walters, was born December 2, 1943, in Knobel, Arkansas. He worked in the timber industry and later became a school bus driver for the Doniphan R-1 School District. He enjoyed working as a mechanic and loved deer hunting and fishing. On May 21, 1994, he was married to Jean Sherrod in Doniphan, Missouri. She preceded him in death on March 2, 2016. Surviving are one daughter, Stephanie Switzer of Doniphan; four sisters, Susan Stephens and Loretta Fisher, both of Doniphan, Inez Dodd of Minturn, Arkansas, and Carolyn Jackson of Stigler, Oklahoma; two brothers, Jesse Switzer of Doniphan and John Switzer of Colorado; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Switzer was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and one brother Vernon Lee Clark Jr. A graveside service will take place Wednesday morning, April 12, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Hunt-White Memorial Gardens in Doniphan with Brother Kevin Crider officiating.
