Virgie Jane Bollenbacher, 90, of Doniphan, Missouri, departed this life Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Mrs. Bollenbacher, daughter of Walter E. and Roxie Pearl (Fagan) Smith, was born February 5, 1927, in Gatewood, Missouri. She had retired from Vitronics Manufacturing Plant in 1991. Mrs. Bollenbacher devoted her life to supporting and caring for her husband and children and spoiling her grandsons. She continued her concern for others as she cared for her friends at the Colonial Home. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Doniphan. On April 17, 1948, she married John Wilfred Bollenbacher in Doniphan and he preceded her in death on July 30, 2013. Surviving are one son, John Bollenbacher (and fiancé Donna Foster) of Poplar Bluff, MIssouri; one daughter, Sandra (and Elton) Bates of Doniphan; three grandsons, Adam (and Courtney) Bates of Bermuda, Aaron (and Amy) Bollenbacher and Bryan (and Dara) Bollenbacher, both of Fayetteville, Arkansas; five great-grandchildren, Mabrey, Blake and Luke Bollenbacher and Audrey and Colette Bates; and one sister, Vivian Yarber. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Bill and Norman Smith. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 18, 2017, at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in the Doniphan City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Dystrophic Epidermolysis Research Association in memory of Jane Bollenbacher at Debra.org/give
