Obituary of Eunice Butler

Eunice Kate Lorey Butler was born in the Towles Community to Frank and Nellie Lorey, the fourth of six children. She was a graduate of Doniphan High School. In 1941 she married Ben Butler of Doniphan, her husband for 60 years until his death in 2001. She and her husband lived in Ohio, South Carolina, and Virginia before retiring back to Doniphan in 1985. Survivors include one sister, Geraldine Lorey of Doniphan, a nephew Randy Lorey of St. Louis, several cousins, three children, Kathy Gallo and husband Vincent of Stone Mountain, GA, Mary Blackhurst and husband Larry of North River, NY, Chuck Butler of Doniphan and four grandchildren, Rob Gallo and wife Miyuki of Decatur, GA, Rod Blackhurst and wife Rachel of Los Angeles, CA, Wilson Blackhurst, and Kelly Blackhurst of North River, NY. She was preceded in death by her son Mike, her sister Mary Lee Braschler, and her brothers Albert Lorey, Gerald Lorey, and Will Lorey. She loved her family and friends, golf, Current River fish, and poodle dogs, having several over the years. She had a gifted green thumb and enjoyed growing flowers and vegetables. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, August 22, at Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 23, at Saint Benedict Catholic Church in Doniphan. Burial will be at the Catholic Cemetery in Doniphan.
