Joseph Chester, “J. C.” Armour, 89, life-time resident of Ripley County, Missouri, departed this life Tuesday, December 13, 2016, at the Current River Nursing Center in Doniphan, Missouri.
Mr. Armour, son of Joseph Henry and Iva Mae (Skates) Armour, was born July 8, 1927, in Naylor, Missouri. He was a self-employed farmer. Mr. Armour had been a member of the Lions Club and Naylor Drainage District, a board member of Farm Credit and a school board member of both the Naylor R-II and Doniphan R-I School Districts. He was also a member of the Naylor First Christian Church where he acted as an elder and was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U. S. Marines. Mr. Armour enjoyed many outdoor activities, especially hunting and camping, particularly with his older grandchildren.
He was married to Kathleen Frederick in Piggott, Arkansas, and she survives.
Also surviving are 1 son, Mike (and Judy) Armour of Doniphan and 1 daughter, Sharon (and Charlie) Rowe of Paragould, Arkansas; 1 brother, Wayne D. Armour of Naylor; 5 grandchildren, Michelle, Doug, Brittani, Amber and Ryan; and 9 great-grandchildren, Brandon, Nathan, Jonathan, Hallee, Mallorie, Sophia, Zoe, Asher and Parker.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 son, John D. Armour; 3 sisters, Bernice Moutrie, Marie Wise and Eileen Nall; and 1 brother, Bob Armour.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning, December 17, 2016, at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Art Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Naylor City Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
