Obituary of Jerry Lynn Jones

Please share a memory of Jerry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jerry Lynn Jones, 75, of O’Fallon, Missouri, departed this life Friday, August 19, 2016, at Jonesburg Nursing Center in Jonesburg, Missouri. Mr. Jones, son of the late Arley Faye and Lucy L. (Parker) Jones, was born July 23, 1941, in Eufaula, Oklahoma. He had been service manager for OCT Equipment Company for 32 years prior to his retirement. Mr. Jones was known as a “fix-it” guy and was able to repair and create anything for his family. He also enjoyed mowing his yard and was very particular in doing so. His son Lynn says that his Dad was so precise in cutting that he often found himself mimicking his mowing in doing his own yard. Jerry was also known as “Mr. Hospitality”. He thoroughly liked to barbecue on his backyard patio and would frequently invite family and friends over to enjoy the feast. A favorite memory of his daughter Karen is sitting on that same patio with him sharing stories and long conversations. Jerry also loved nature and enjoyed being outdoors and had a special joy in being with his grandchildren. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Collinsville, Oklahoma. On August 23, 1961, he was married to the love of his life Glenna McDowell in Poteau, Oklahoma, and she survives. Also surviving are two children; a daughter, Karen Jones of Piney Creek, North Carolina, and a son, Lynn (Deena) Jones of Dardenne Prairie, Missouri; three sisters, Barbara Reynolds, Linda Harris and Debbie Jones, all of Eufaula, Oklahoma; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be deeply missed. Unfortunately, Alzheimer’s disease took away his true quality of living and ultimately stole his life. Visitation for Mr. Jones will begin at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Wilderness Church in Wilderness, Missouri, with Reverend Scott Andrews officiating. Burial will be in the Wilderness Cemetery.
