Obituary of Theodore Jennings Ormsby

Theodore Jennings Ormsby, 88, of Doniphan, Missouri, died March 1, 2016, at the John J. Pershing V.A. Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, after a short battle with cancer. Mr. Ormsby, son of James Virgil and Ruth Inis (Jennings) Ormsby, was born January 30, 1928, in Ripley County, Missouri. He had been a farmer and local realtor. Mr. Ormsby enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles. He was a member of the American Legion and a veteran of the U. S. Navy having served his country during World War II. He was married to Ruth McMaster on September 9, 1950, in Tempe, Arizona, and she survives. They were very proud of their 65 years of marriage. Also surviving are 2 daughters, Crystal Ormsby of Mountain View, Missouri, and Judy (Terry) Booth of Bartelso, Illinois; 1 brother, Gerald (Carol) Ormsby of Cleveland, South Carolina; 2 grandchildren, Jeremy Jennings Booth of Japan and Lisa Ann (Michael) Powers of Parker, Colorado; and 2 great-grandchildren, Rylie Powers and Louie Powers. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, William James Ormsby and 2 sisters, Violet (and Russell) Scent and Patricia (and Norman) Linton. A graveside memorial service with full military honors will be held at a later date. His cremains will be interred in Fowler Grove Cemetery in Big Rock, Illinois.
