Wanda J. Staton, 76, of Doniphan, Missouri, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2016, at her residence in rural Ripley County.
Mrs. Staton, daughter of the late Charlie and Pearl Lee (Dillon) Jones, was born November 18, 1939, in Kennett, Missouri. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Staton enjoyed working with flowers, collecting dolls, crocheting and especially being with her family. She was a member of the Oak Grove Church of God.
On November 24, 1956, she was married to Abram Forney Staton in St. Louis, Missouri, and he preceded her in death on December 2, 2015.
Surviving are 2 sons, Mark Staton and Terry Staton, both of Doniphan; 3 sisters, Ida Jupp of Anaheim, California, Mary Payne of Ellsinore, Missouri, and Shirley Payne of Doniphan; 1 brother, Frank Jones of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; 1 granddaughter, Stephanie (Dalton) Battles of Poplar Bluff; and 2 great-grandchildren, Jaxson and Desiree.
She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Charles Jones and Richard Jones and 1 sister, Pearline Young.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening, March 3. 2016, from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will take place Friday morning, March 4, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Danny Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
