Maxie Lee Hatfield, 87 year old resident of Doniphan, departed this life Saturday, December 5, 2015 at his residence. Mr. Hatfield was born July 25, 1928 in Bardley, MO to the late Tom and Maude Klenn Hatfield. Max was retired from the Missouri Highway Department, having worked 30 years. He was a member of the Missouri National Guard and was of the Presbyterian Faith. Max loved his family and especially enjoyed his grandchildren and was an avid hunter and fisherman, avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, and He loved farming and cattle. Max was an expert conversationalist and truly enjoyed people.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hatfield was also preceded in death by 1 daughter, Donna Hatfield, 1 sister Jessie Donnely, and 1 brother Carl Hatfield.
On July 19, 1952, in Pocahontas, AR he was married to Ruby Skaggs. She survives. Also surviving are 2 daughters, Kathy (Randy) Whiteside of Doniphan; Sara (Bill) Hillix of Kansas City, MO; 1 son Tom Hatfield of Doniphan; 7 grandchildren, Keith (Kristen) Whiteside, Donna (Mike) Owen, Rachel (Mary Beth) Hillix Leistad, Mark (Katie) Hillix, Adam Hatfield, Eric Hatfield, and Aaron Hatfield; 6 Great-grandchildren, Orie, Max and Sara Owen, Randall “Kooper” Whiteside, and twins Eva and Willa Whiteside. He is also survived by 1 nephew Jim Hatfield of Eagle Nest, New Mexico, and 1 niece Carla Naylor of Amarillo, TX.
Funeral services for Max Hatfield will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 8, 2015 in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Randy Whiteside officiating. Visiting will be from 5-8 P.M. Monday, December 7, 2015. Burial will be in the Doniphan Cemetery.
