Before her years of newspaper editing, "Miss Dorothy" taught hundreds of students at Towles and Barkadaro rural schools. She taught us to love learning, which inspired us in lasting ways to discover with eagerness, believe in ourselves, and treat schoolwork as a tool for pursuing the path to become who we are today.

So sorry to hear of the families loss. The newspaper has been such a blessing (and still is to our family and Doniphan.) My 80 and 90 year old parents still look forward to it. May God comfort the family and friends in Dorothy's home going.

My family and I would like to offer our deepest sympathies to you and your family. We are so sorry for your loss. Please know that you are never alone. Turn to the Holy Scriptures for guidance and to help soothe your heart. Psalms 34:18 assures us that God is near to those broken at heart and crushed in spirit. Please accept our deepest sympathies.

To the Ponder family:
I am so sorry for your loss. I remember your mother from my childhood, particularly when my dad and I would run into her. My dad really enjoyed his friendship with her and they always had funny stories to tell each other. I know how proud she was of all of you.
I will keep you all in my thoughts.

I am very sorry for your loss. She was a huge part of this community. Most recently, I remember her bringing her grandchild to the library. She would usually stop and talk a few minutes so I got to know her in a little different way than as the newspaper editor. She was always interested genealogy and the history of our area.

Dorothy was a special lady. She has always been a friend to my family, in the good times and the bad times. She was the definition of a true Christian woman, always putting everyone else's needs in front of hers. And she never asked for anything in return. She was a woman of grace and true kindness. She will be sorely missed.
Dorothy, we love you and thank you for sharing your life with us.

We had wonderful trips with her and Bud and we are so blessed to have known them. They were both a great influence and inspiration for us. May God's comfort give you peace now and always.
