Douglas Delano Brawley, 74, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at his residence in Doniphan. Mr. Brawley, son of Guy R. and Nula (Moffitt) Brawley, was born November 13, 1936, in Redford, Missouri. He was an assembly line worker with General Motors until his retirement. Mr. Brawley loved raising his family, working with cars and was a proud member of the NRA. He enjoyed the peaceful solitude of the country and was a father figure to his younger sisters and family. Mr. Brawley was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was married to Anna Mae Ezell on August 11, 1964, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She preceded him in death in August of 1999. Surviving are one daughter; Kerri Ponder of Doniphan; one special granddaughter raised by Mr. Brawley, Emie (and Charles) Fortney, of Doniphan; two sisters, Mary Ann (and Johney) Sanders and Berta (and Frank) Stout, both of Ellington, Missouri; one brother, Donald (and Betty) Brawley of Ellington, Missouri; seventeen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; twelve nephews and nine nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; two daughters, Karen Huber and Kathy Hall; four brothers, Charles Ralph, Jimmy Ray, Billy Joe and James Leroy; three sisters, Janet Ruth, Geraldine and Erma; and two grandchildren, Andrew Ponder and Jedidiah Huber. Funeral services will take place Saturday, July 16, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Doniphan with Brother Scott Hill officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery. Visitation will begin prior to the funeral starting at 11:00 a.m.
