Edna Mae Elliott, 82, of Doniphan, Missouri, departed this life Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Mrs. Elliott, daughter of Charlie and Rosa (Hawkins) Jones, was born July 13, 1933, in Poplar Bluff. She had been employed at Vitronics Manufacturing for 32 years and was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Doniphan. Mrs. Elliott loved traveling, cooking for her family and being with her grandchildren. She especially enjoyed family get-togethers. On September 26, 1953, she was married to Leo Elliott in Alton, Missouri, and he survives. Also surviving are 3 daughters: Sandra Hensley of Naylor, Missouri, Carolyn Harris of Ozark, Missouri, and Charlene (and Gary) Smedley of Independence, Missouri; 3 sons, Mark (and Bobbi) Elliott and Keith Elliott, both of Doniphan, and Allen (Mhel) Elliott of Corning, Arkansas; 1 sister, Mary Worley of Texas; 3 brothers, James Jones and Charles Jones, both of St. Louis and Jerry Jones of Oklahoma; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 sister, Lou Mareschelle. Visitation for Mrs. Elliott will begin at 1:00 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Doniphan. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Reverends Wade Rogers and Monty Flanagan officiating. Burial will be in the Hunt-White Cemetery. Mrs. Elliott was a strong advocate for any and all organizations that supported the fight against cancer. She began her interest in these organizations when her father developed cancer many years ago. Unfortunately, she, too, had to fight that same battle for many years. She especially supported the Ripley County American Cancer Society Relay for Life every year her health permitted. The family asks that in lieu of flowers any memorials be made to the cancer organization of your choice to continue the fight.
