Kenny Hunt, 60, lifelong resident of Doniphan, Missouri, departed this life Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at Southeast Health Center of Ripley County. Mr. Hunt, son of Check and Ima Lee (Cronin) Hunt, was born August 1, 1955, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He was a 1973 graduate of Doniphan High School. Kenny then received an associate’s degree from Three Rivers College, and obtained a bachelor’s degree from Southeast Missouri State University and a master’s degree from Arkansas State University. Mr. Hunt was an educator for 33 years, coaching at several area schools and serving as Superintendent of Gatewood School for 24 years, prior to his retirement in 2010. Kenny was an avid fisherman and guide who enjoyed fishing the Current and Eleven Point Rivers and traveling yearly to fish in Canada. He also enjoyed deer and turkey hunting and working on the farm. Kenny loved spending time with his family and friends and being a “paw-paw” to his four precious grandchildren. He dedicated his life to family, school and community and will be deeply missed. On May 28, 1976, he married Leita Potts at Oak Grove Church of God in Doniphan and she survives. Also surviving are three children, Kamron (and Haley) Hunt, Kasey (and Jessica) Hunt and Kensey Hunt, all of Doniphan; one sister, Tamma Hunt and brother-in-law, Marshall Rudolph of St. Louis; and four grandchildren, Brody, Miley, Harper and Finley Hunt. He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Kaley Ann Hunt. Visitation will be held Friday evening, October 23, 2015, from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will be held Saturday morning, October 24, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at the Gatewood School gymnasium in Gatewood with Brother Danny Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Doniphan City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Southern Ozark Longbeards of the NWTF.
