Johnie Dowell Dean, 76, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Wednesday, December 8, 2010, at his residence in Doniphan.
Mr. Dean, son of Howard and Flora (Sneider) Dean, was born December 28, 1933, in Delaplaine, Arkansas. He had lived in Ripley County most of his life and was self-employed in construction. Mr. Dean enjoyed woodworking, reading westerns, fishing and hunting.
On September 26, 1970, he was married to Jacqueline Sue Webb at O'Kean, Arkansas. She preceded him in death Aug. 23, 2001.
Also surviving are five sons; Johnie Howard Dean of Maynard, Arkansas, Steve Bartlett of Davenport IA, Brad Bartlet of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and Daniel Dean and Rickey Dean, both of Doniphan; two daughters, Elizabeth Oxford and Lisa Napier, both of Doniphan; one brother, James Thomas Dean of Paragould, Arkansas; eighteen grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Flora (Sneider) Dean, his wife, Jacqueline Sue Dean, step-mother, Mary Sullinger; two brothers, O'Neal Dean and Virgil Dean, and one grand-daughter, Jerralldean Oxford.
Visitation will be Friday evening, December 10, 2010, from 5 - 8 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will be Saturday afternoon, December 11, 2010, at 2:30 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Joe Seay officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery.
