Millicent Ann (Chance) Berry, 70, of Doniphan, Mo., died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. She was born May 25, 1940, in Poplar Bluff to Clarence H. Chance and Alta (Rushin) Chance. Her parents preceded her in death. On July 10, 1966, she married Ronald T. Berry in Poplar Bluff. She earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro and was a retired schoolteacher. She was an excellent student, and instilled in her children a belief in the importance of education. She was a patient, kind and wonderful teacher, but her greatest gift was loving her family unconditionally and completely unselfishly. She was a lifelong resident of Butler and Ripley counties. Before her illness, she was a member of Tuesday Club and Lectus Club. She also belonged to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Doniphan. Mrs. Berry was a devoted mother and grandmother. She attended dance, piano and band recitals, sports games, Girl Scout campouts, and any other activities in which her children participated. She was never happier than when spending time with her family, and was a doting grandmother who was adored by her grandchildren. She also loved traveling to visit with her sisters, who were her closest friends. Survivors include her loving husband; one son, Robert Martin and Patricia Berry of Irvine, Calif.; two daughters, Lori Anne and Robbie Myers of Poplar Bluff, and Christy Lyn and Michael Smith of Doniphan; seven grandchildren, Logan, Taylor and Micah Smith of Doniphan; Lauren and Jason Berry of Irvine; and Brennan and Reagan Myers of Poplar Bluff; two sisters, Donna and Dennis Mussell of Del Mar, Calif., and Kay and Ronald King of Scottsdale, Ariz. Also surviving are an aunt, Kathern Riley of Poplar Bluff; and two uncles, Kenny and Jane Rushin of St. Charles, and Paul and Dolores Rushin of Chillicothe, Ill. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. A graveside service with the Rev. Ben Jordan officiating will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Cochran Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
