Elizabeth Jane "Betty" Watson, 78, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at her residence. Mrs. Watson, daughter of Oliver Paul and Nona Jane (Woodring) Bell, was born October 5, 1931, in St. Louis, Missouri. She was a cook for Head Start. Mrs. Watson worked for SCMCAA Head Start for twelve years and received a five-year Dedicated Service Award on May 17, 1995. She was also honored on that date with the Employer of the Year Award for 1994-95. She enjoyed fishing and sewing. On December 12, 1948, she was married to Clifford "Jack" Watson in Pocahontas, Arkansas. He survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Brenda Watson of Moline, Illinois, and Pat Correa and her husband, Juan, of Milan, Illinois; one son, Gary Watson and his wife, Sylvia, of Doniphan; one sister, Reva McKinney of Dunnellion, Florida; two brothers, Jack Bell of Doniphan and James Bell of Bardley; five grandchildren, Shelly Swinburn, Jane Kennedy and her husband, Steve, Lisa Watson, Kristofer Swinburn and Danielle Watson; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver Paul and Nona Jane (Woodring) Bell, one son, Bruce Leo Watson, and two sisters, Mozella Dale and Joyce Barr. Visitation for Mrs. Watson will begin Saturday morning, August 28, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Dennis Bell officiating. Burial will be in the Bardley Cemetery.
