Raymond Floyd Gulley, 86-year-old resident of Ripley County died Saturday, August 14, 2010 at his residence. Mr. Gulley was born August 7, 1924 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri to the late Ulysses and Iona Mae Schmick Gulley. Mr. Gulley was a veteran of WWII having served as a quartermaster in a pack troop of the Cavalry Division. He also was a former Sunday School Superintendent at Center Hill Southern Baptist Church and a deacon for thirty years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, studying birds, his family and his church. On January 23, 1946, in Brosely, Missouri, he was married to Mavis Bunting. She survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Lucretia and husband Walter Jackson of Naylor; Mary and husband Mack Young of Naylor; and Valerie and husband Thomas Schumer of Naylor; one son, Michael and wife Carolyn Gulley of Naylor. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 1 great great grandson, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by sisters, Della Womack, Thelma McCarty, Mazel Mansfield, Leatha Hays, and Nell Alexander; brothers, Howard, Willis, Walter, and Roy Gulley. Funeral services for Mr. Gulley will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, August 16, at the Center Hill Southern Baptist Church with Rev. Roy Davis officiating. Visitation will begin at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, August 15, 2010 at the church. Burial will follow in the Center Hill Cemetery.
