Joan Doherty, 79, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Tuesday, August 3, 2010, at the Current River Nursing Center in Doniphan.
Ms. Doherty, daughter of the late Chester Arthur and Alma (Gerlach) Doherty, was born July 30, 1931, in Doniphan. She was a member of the Episcopal Church. A 1949 graduate of Doniphan High School, Ms. Doherty received her doctorate in education and was retired as a mathematics professor at the University of Missouri.
Surviving are special friends, Barb Goforth Belew of Doniphan and Janie Goforth Lee of Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials may be made to the Doniphan Public Library.
There will be no memorial service.
