James Thomas Pope, 76, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at his residence in Doniphan.
Mr. Pope, son of the late John and Ophelia (Tice) Pope, was born January 22, 1934, in Elk, Missouri. He was self-employed in electrical repair. Mr Pope enjoyed woodworking and electronics and liked westerns with John Wayne. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Mr. Pope was married to Carolyn Sellers on December 21, 1979, in Forrest City, Akransas. She survives.
Also surviving are six children; Larry Dean Pope of Hinesville, Georgia, James Michael Pope of Paragould, Arkansas, Sharon Kay Kirkendal of Van Buren, Arkansas, Linda Gail Pope of Wisconsin, Marton Thomas of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and Dr. Kathy Bennett-Bowie of Kansas City, Missouri, formerly of Doniphan; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Pope was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jimmy Pope.
Visitation will begin at noon Saturday, June 5, 2010, at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Doniphan Cemetery with Brother John Harwell officiating.
