George Daniel Severs, 80, life-long resident of Doniphan, Missouri, died Sunday, April 25, 2010, at his residence.
Mr. Severs, son of the late Daniel and Opal (Russell) Severs, was born December 16, 1929, in Oxly, Missouri. He was retired from Missouri Pacific Railroad. Mr. Severs was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting.
On July 29, 1954, he was married to Patricia "Pat" Vaughn in St. Louis. She survives.
Also surviving are five children; Roger Eric (Debbie) Severs of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Zandra Elaine (Wink) Henson of Fulton, Missouri, Karen Lynne (Joe) McCoy and Wendy DeEtte Martinez, both of Doniphan, and Rana Kay Severs of Louisville, Texas; one sister, Lois Sutton of Jonesboro, Arkansas; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mr. Severs was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Goldie Ruth Wright, one brother, Samuel Lee Severs; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening, April 27, 2010, from 5-8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will be Wednesday afternoon, April 28, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Pine Cemetery.
