Hardin Lynn Tipton, 84, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, died Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at Ripley County Memorial Hospital in Doniphan, Missouri. Mr Tipton, son of William Hardin Tipton and Ruth Mae (Bible) Tipton was born on March 28, 1927, in Grandin, Missouri. He was service manager for the General Motors dealership in Poplar Bluff for over 30 years. Most recently Mr Tipton worked with the U.S. Forest Service in Doniphan, Missouri. He was a life-long outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy. On September 14, 1946, he married Norma Lee (Proffer) Tipton. They were married 34 years and raised three children. He later married Mary Etta(Griffin) Tipton in 1980 who preceeded him in death on November 20, 2007. Surviving are two sons; Russell Lynn (and Sue Ann) Tipton of Wappapello, Missouri, and Rickie Alan Tipton (and Kerry Kim Cato) of Poplar Bluff; one daughter, Lee Ann (and Johnny) Brannum of Poplar Bluff; five grandchildren; Jeffery Lynn (and Kelly) Tipton of Bullhead City, Arizona, Michelle Dawn (and Julio) Antonio, Todd Alan (and Terri) Tipton and Carrie Whiteley, all of Poplar Bluff and James Brian (and Denise) Tipton of North Lake, Illinois; nineteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Pearl (and Robert) Lowe of Grandin; and his former wife and mother of his children, Norma Lee Tipton of Wappapello. Also preceeding him in death are his parents, one sister, Ruby Hamilton, four brothers, Lloyd Reeves, Ezra Tipton, Bill Tipton and Art Tipton and one grandson, Jesse N. Matthews. Visitation for Mr. Tipton will be Thursday evening, June 16, 2011, from 5 - 8 p.m. in the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan.
