Obituary of Mike Sipes

Michael "Mike" Huson Sipes, 59, a lifelong resident of Doniphan, Missouri, died Saturday, March 20, 2010, at his residence in Doniphan surrounded by his family. Mr. Sipes was born February 4, 1951, to the late Huson "Bud" and Opal DeEtta (Foy) Sipes. He attended several churches in Ripley County where he sang and played guitar. Mr. Sipes was a farmer, carpenter and was one of Ripley County's first Emergency Medical Technicians. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and served in the National Guard. Survivors include one son, Richard "Rick" Huson Sipes and wife, April, of Poplar Bluff; two sisters, Jinkie Meeks and husband J.C. of Doniphan and Billie Choita Sipes of Glady West Virginia; brother-in-law, Jimmie Hoefer of Doniphan; one grandson, Dalton Michael Sipes of Poplar Bluff; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a multitude of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Beverly Kathleen Sipes Hoefer and Karen Sue Price and one brother-in-law, Jackie Price. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Tuesday March 23, 2010, at Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at Edwards Funeral Home with Rev. Eric Leroux officiating. Burial will be at Towles Cemetery.
