Verna Lee Roberts, 94, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at Westwood Hills Healthcare Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
Mrs. Roberts was born May 11, 1915, in Pine, Missouri, to Wesley and Willa (Story) Miller. She was a housewife and enjoyed gardening, quilting and growing flowers.
She was married to William "Bill" Roberts and he preceded her in death on March 24, 1996.
Surviving are four children; Joyce Samons of Poplar Bluff, Bob Roberts and Joe Roberts, both of Desoto, Missouri, and Joan Thornton of Eminence, Missouri; two grandchildren whom she raised, Rick Smith of Doniphan and Lisa Hutson of Thayer, Missouri; two sisters, Genell Whitehouse and Nova Brock, both of Doniphan; thirteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Roberts was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three children, Joy, Jan and June, two grandchildren, seven brothers and one sister.
Visitation will begin at noon on Saturday, March 20, 2010, at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Danny Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Cemetery.
