Maurice Thompson, 88, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Monday, March 1, 2010, at Ripley County Memorial Hospital in Doniphan. Mrs. Thompson was born August 27, 1921, in Bay Village, Arkansas, to Edward and Ethel (Graham) Hooper. She retired as a newspaper agent with the Daily American Republic in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Mrs. Thompson enjoyed her family and church and was a member of the First Church of God and His Place. On December 2, 1939, she was married to Elvis Ray Thompson in Harrisburg, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on October 7, 2002. She is survived by one daughter; Eddie Sue Seals of Doniphan; two sons; Gaylin (and Linda) Thompson and Mark (and Barbara) Thompson, both of Doniphan; four grandchildren; Kim (and Steve) Cannon, Pam (and Dan) Koehler and Teddy Thompson, all of Doniphan and Karla (and Roy) Hale of Poplar Bluff; and three great-grandchildren, Travis Cannon, Kelsey Koehler and Madlyn Koehler, all of Doniphan. Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, Charlie Hooper, T.W. Hooper and Ray Hooper; and three sisters, Nadine Hooper, Faye Bass and Pauline Horner. Visitation will be Wednesday evening, March 3, 2010, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will take place Thursday afternoon, March 4, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with Brother Kent Wilfong officiating. Burial will follow in the Doniphan City Cemetery.
