Obituary of Roy Borth

Roy Borth, 83, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at his residence.
Mr. Borth, son of the late James Roy and Irene (Steele) Borth, was born January 1, 1926, in Venice, Illinois. He retired from Granite City Steel in 1982 after thirty-three years of employment. A World War II veteran, Mr. Borth was stationed in Germany and France and was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #3485. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, music, dancing, playing cards with his grandchildren and carving animals from peach seeds.
He was married to Charlene Tillman on April 8, 1954, in Madison, Illinois, and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons; Chuck (and Terri) Borth of Edwardsville, Illinois, and Ron (and Susan) Borth of St. Jacob, Illinois; one daughter, Diane (and Kenny) Hart of Doniphan; three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. Borth was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Violet Moore and Alice Tillman, and three brothers, Tommy Borth, James Borth and Floyd Borth.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening, December 30, 2009, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will take place Thursday morning, December 31, 2009, at 9:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Hubert Payne officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope Cemetery.
