Leon Earnest Chimene, 72, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Friday, December 18, 2009, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. Mr. Chimene was born August 23, 1937 in Center, Texas. Mr. Chimene served in the U.S. Navy for 10 years, before he became a dispatcher with the Rail Road. He was the "Tinker Man" and worked on anything, he also enjoyed fishing with lures that he crafted. On April 16 1981, he was married Beverly Jenael Hensley in Collinsville, OK. She survives. Mr. Chimene was first married to Verlene Chimene who preceded him in death, November. 1980. Also surviving are three daughters; Arlene Herber of Poplar Bluff, Theresa Godenzi of Altamont, NY & Shelia Laurange of Briar; eleven grandchildren Salina, Cricket, Gary, Victoria, Eric, James, Andrew, Philip, Charles Jr. Karen & Clinton; and nine great-grandchildren Tylar, Pezza, Mya, Dominic, Alice, Isaac, Lexi, Lorraine, & Lila. Three brothers Bruce & Bennie Chimene both of Jacinto City, TX & Richard Chimene of Conroe TX. Four sisters Jewell James of Houston TX, Kathy Jeffus of Trinity TX, Eileen Peavly of Windfield, LA and Darlene Forsythe of Trinity, TX. And numerous neices and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; Kenneth & Macle (Welch) Chimene; & one brother Frank Chimene. Visitation will be Sunday, December 20, 2009, from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Monday, December 21, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the Shirley Cemetery, with full military honors.
