Walter Joseph "Wally" Franke, Jr., of Doniphan, Missouri, died Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
Mr. Franke, son of the late Walter and Clarissa (Coen) Franke, Sr., was born March 20, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois. He was an xray technician at Samuel Medical Clinic in Doniphan. Mr. Franke had been a former EMT/Paramedic in Chicago and had been a lieutenant with the Hometown, Illinois, fire department, a Chicago suburb. He enjoyed camping. Mr. Franke served in the U.S. Navy and was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #3485.
On July 9, 1966, he was married to Mary Piasecki in Chicago and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Mike Franke of Doniphan and Wally Franke of Ozark, Missouri; two daughters-in-law, Brandy Franke of Doniphan and Angie Franke of Ozark, Missouri; one sister, Clarissa Sowa of Doniphan; one brother, Hank (and Lynn) Franke of Burbank, Illinois; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation for Mr. Franke will be Friday evening, December 4, 2009, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will be Saturday afternoon, December 5, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri, at a later date.
