Obituary of Valerie McKnight

Valerie Faye McKnight, 51, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away on October 21, 2009, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Ms. McKnight, daughter of Anita Shelton and the late Robert E. Shelton, was born February 13, 1958, in St. Louis, Missouri. She recently graduated from TRCC with an A.A.S. degree in Child Psychology and was employed at Kid and Country Day Care in Poplar Bluff. She enjoyed reading and working with children and was of the Pentecost faith. Surviving are one son, Joshua D. McKnight of Poplar Bluff; a daughter, Pamela L. Carr and husband Jerry, of Caruthersville, Missouri; two grandsons, Jacob Logan of Broseley, Missouri, and Damion Carr of Caruthersville, Missouri; her mother, Anita Shelton of Doniphan, Missouri; two brothers, Robert L. Shelton and Scott Shelton, both of Doniphan, Missouri; and three sisters, Pamela Merrit of Corning, Arkansas, Janell Thomas of Neelyville, Missouri, and Tracy Moore of Doniphan. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Ms. McKnight was preceded in death by her father, Robert E. Shelton, on July 26, 2009. A visitation/memorial service will be Sunday evening, October 25, 2009, from 5 - 7 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan.
