James "Jim" Gene Miller, 75, of Doniphan died Tuesday October 20, 2009, at Ripley County Memorial Hospital in Doniphan. Mr. Miller was born September 6, 1934, in Pine, Missouri, to the late Wesley and Willa (Story) Miller. Mr. Miller retired after 32 years of employment with the U.S. Forest Service and later worked 15 years in the lawn care industry. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening. Mr. Miller was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and brother. On September 18, 1954, he married Virginia Wallace in Alton, Missouri. She survives. Other survivors include four sons; Richard Gene Miller, Jimmie Duane Miller and wife Donna, Danny Lynn Miller and wife Geneva, all of Doniphan and Terry Lee Miller and wife Dinah, of Wilderness; three sisters, Verna Roberts of Poplar Bluff and Nova Brock and Genell Whitehouse both of Doniphan; five grandchildren, Josh Miller, Angie Fowler and husband Josh, April Trantham and husband Chris, Daniel Miller and wife Katy, and Curtis Miller; and four great-grandchildren, Katelynn Fowler, Ashlynn Fowler, Seth Trantham and Cole Trantham. Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his parents, one son James David Miller, one sister Sylvia Hall and six brothers John, Bonnie, Melvin, Calvin, Mack and Kenneth. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, October 22, 2009, at Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Friday, October 23, 2009, at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at Pine Cemetery.
