Marie Tucker, 78, life long resident of Doniphan died Friday, July 3, 2009 at Ripley County Memorial Hospital in Doniphan. Mrs. Tucker was born November 16, 1930 in Doniphan to the late Lawrence Edward and Dorothy (Deckard) Meadors. She was a member of New Life Pentecostal Church and worked as a cook at Finches drug store, making her famous pies. She enjoyed quilting "having made 10 in one year for everyone in her family" sewing, cooking and raising the family. On November 25, 1943 she married George Tucker in Reno AR. He preceded her in death in August 15, 1997.. Survivors include two sons Ray Tucker and Joe Tucker both of Doniphan; one daughter Barbra Lee of Tullahoma TN; four sisters Arevia, Mearel, Doris & Peggy; six brothers Russell "Sonny", Guy, Carel, Bill, Darrell & Eddie. Six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday July 5, 2009 at Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Brother Harold Sheppard officiating. Burial will be at Doniphan City Cemetery.
