Anthony (Tony) Smith, 62, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Saturday, June 20, 2009, at Ripley County Memorial Hospital in Doniphan.
Tony was born November 21, 1946, in Ft. Collins, Colorado. He and his family moved to Doniphan in 1950.
Following high school, Tony enlisted in the U.S. Army and retired after 23 years of service. He then worked for the United States Post Office in St. Louis. Upon his retirement from the postal service, he returned to Doniphan where he was a member of St. Benedict's Catholic Church and a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post #3485.
Anthony is survived by two children; daughter Shirley and son Marc, both of Germany; five sisters, Patricia Swader, Crystal City, Missouri, Cecilia Bond, Muncie, Indiana, Dolores Cope of Florissant, Missouri, Theresa Milner of Doniphan and Christina Smith of St. Louis; four brothers, Kenneth Smith, James Smith, Michael Smith and Stephen Smith, all of Doniphan; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Virginia (Dralle) Smith.
A memorial and special prayer service will be held Wednesday evening, June 24, 2009, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan.
