Sherman Wayne Pigg, 76, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Thursday, May 28, 2009, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Mr. Pigg, son of the late W.A. and Dorothy (Whitwell) Pigg, was born September 21, 1932, in Ripley County, Missouri. He was retired as co-owner/operator of Current River Marine Sales in Doniphan and had also retired from Missouri National Guard after 20 years of service. Mr. Pigg was a member of Laborers Local #1104 in Cape Girardeau and he enjoyed hunting and fishing. On June 30, 1958, he was married to Betty Faye Lowery in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She preceded him in death on September 2, 1989. He married Lynna Dodson on September 12, 1994, in Pocahontas, Arkansas, and she survives. Also surviving are four sons; Nace (and Brenda) Pigg, Lance (and Doris) Pigg and Von (and Sharon) Pigg, all of Doniphan, and Randy (and Sandy) Pigg of Kalamazoo, Michigan; one sister, Elsie Smith of Clinton, Kentucky; three brothers, Allen Pigg, Roy Pigg and Franklin Pigg, all of Doniphan; six grandchildren, Michael, Katrina, Brandi, Fawn, Zach and Katie; and two great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Miken. Mr. Pigg was preceded in death by his parents and first wife. Visitation will be Saturday evening, May 30, 2009, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will be Sunday afternoon, May 31, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with Brother Hubert Payne officiating. Burial will follow in the Doniphan City Cemetery.
