Obituary of Jewel Scallion

Jewel Scallion, 73, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Sunday April 19, 2009, at her residence in Doniphan. Mrs. Scallion was born June 28, 1935, in Brownsville, Texas, to the late Owen and Florence (Teague) Pitts. She was a housewife and enjoyed gardening, the Civil War, and politics. On December 27, 1952, she married Fred Scallion in Rector, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on February 15, 1992. Survivors include; four sons; Donald Ray Scallion of Tuckerman Arkansas, Mark Anthony Scallion of Parma, Missouri, Kenneth Wayne Scallion of Lesterville, Missouri, and Christopher Douglas Scallion of Doniphan; six daughters, Karen A. Ervin of Lilbourn, M, Debra Lynn Scallion of Omaha, Arkansas, Polly E. Scallion, Margie Ayers, Kathy Harp and Mona Carol Scallion, all of Doniphan; two brothers, Braxton Pitts of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, and Lee Pitts of Warsaw, Missouri; thirty nine grandchildren, forty four great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Scallion was preceded in death by five sons, Freddie Lee Scallion, Charles Walter Scallion, Larry Gene Scallion, David Michael Scallion, and Joseph Daniel Scallion. Visitation will be Monday, April 20, 2009, from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m.
