Mary Alice Roberts, 94, life-long resident of Doniphan, Missouri, died Thursday, January 29, 2009, at the Bothwell Health Center in Sedalia, Missouri.

Mrs. Roberts, daughter of the late Claude J. and Nora (Lacy) Casteel, was born May 3, 1914, in Ripley County, Missouri. She was an abstract manager for Ripley County Abstract Company in Doniphan for many, many years. Mrs. Roberts was a member of PEO, Tuesday Reading Club, VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Presbyterian and First Christian Churches.

On December 23, 1933, she was married to Edmond Everett "Red" Roberts at Dexter, Missouri. He preceded her in death on July 20, 1990.

She is survived by one son, Bill Roberts and his wife, Debbie, of Sedalia; five grandchildren, Dustin Roberts of Jefferson City, Jefferson Roberts of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Angela Gerondale and her husand, Cory, of DePere, Wisconsin, Jeremiah Young and his wife, Meg, of Kansas City and Amy Lillard and her husband, Dave, of Windsor; and three great-grandchildren, Joseph Young and Zack Reinke of DePere, Wisconsin, and Braylon Young of Kansas City.

Mrs. Roberts was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother, Louie Casteel, and one sister, Alma Lee Cole.

Visitation will be Thursday evening, February 5, 2009, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. A graveside service will be held Friday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at the Doniphan City Cemetery with Reverend John Harwell officiating.
