Bertha Mae Wilson, 98-year-old lifelong resident of Doniphan, MO, departed this life Sunday, January 29, 2023. She was born May 7, 1924, in West Plains, MO, to the late Ephram and Birda Mary (Gunter) Collins.

Mae had been employed at and retired from Vitronic after 20 years. In her 98 years, Mae’s strong will helped her overcome obstacles, adjust to the many changes she had seen and experienced in nearly a century of life, and to raise her children. Being part of the Collins family, she loved music, especially country music. Mae had a beautiful yard that would burst into color in the spring and brought joy to her and those who passed by. She enjoyed handwork making beautiful embroidered and cross-stitched items.

On July 12, 1941, Mae married Granville G. Wilson in Doniphan. He preceded her in death on January 20, 1980. She was also preceded by a son, Ronald Wilson; her sisters, Arlee Ormsby, Hazel Joplin, Viva Hamm, and Norma Yates; and her brothers, Ted, Hester, Dale, and Ervel Collins.

Surviving are her children, Deloris “Dody” (Gary) Garrett of Warrenton, MO, Juanita (Jim) Johnson, Dwaine (Sherrie) Wilson, Sandy (Junior) Mathis, all of Doniphan, and Randy (Susan) Wilson of Naylor; two sisters-in-law, Linda Collins of Dixon, TN and Helen Collins of Columbia, IL; along with 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 41 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, February 4, 2023, beginning at 11:00 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at noon. Pastor Jim Johnson will be officiating, and burial will be in Amity Cemetery.
