Vernon Harold Crook, 77, lifetime resident of Doniphan, Missouri, departed this life Sunday, May 11, 2014, at the Mark Twain Caring Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
Mr. Crook, son of Clarence and Alice (Boyles) Crook, was born May 22, 1936, in Doniphan. He had been a factory worker at Vitronic Manufacturing. Mr. Crook was a member of the Good Hope General Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge and enjoyed playing guitar, hunting, fishing and doing yard work.
On March 13, 1981, he was married to Della Schanz in Doniphan and she survives.
Also surviving are two children; Glenn Crook of Ellsinore, Missouri, and Rhonda Tipton of Grandin, Missouri; four stepsons, Marvin Young, Elmer Young, Howard Young and Shawn Manning; two sisters, Helen Rainbolt and Bonnie Cole, both of Doniphan; and several grandchildren/step-grandchildren/great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Esther Webb.
Visitation for Mr. Crook will begin at noon Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Pete Joplin officiating. Burial will be at Good Hope Cemetery.
