Alma Louise McClaren, 99, was born at home on her family farm in the Towles community of Ripley County, Missouri, on July 13, 1914, to James A. and Dora E. (Stewart) McClaren. She departed this life on March 25, 2014, at the Chateau Girardeau in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She had lived at Chateau Girardeau since March, 2003. She previously resided in Washington D. C. where she retired after many years with the Civil Service for the Bureau of Internal Revenue. She was an avid golfer, loved to visit family and friends and traveled extensively. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Gladys Rush, Kathryn McClaren and infant sister, Viva Eve McClaren; and her brothers, Raymond, Joe, Paul, Ezra and Lowell McClaren. She is survived by several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation for Mrs. McClaren will start at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, March 30, 2014, at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with nephews Ron Payne and Joseph Payne officiating. Burial will be in the Towles Cemetery.
