Shirley J Silkwood Wells, of Big Pine Key, Fl; Doniphan, MO, entered into eternal peace Sunday, January 12th, 2014 at the Arbors in Cape Girardeau, MO. She was born September 22nd, 1934 in Bardley, MO, daughter of Thurlow and Jettie Silkwood (Dale). She is survived by her son, Michael Shenberg of Cape Girardeau, Missouri (Sherry), two sisters; Jo Ann Bell of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and Merle Henning of Alexis, Illinois, two grandchildren, Brent and Hayden Shenberg, two stepsons; HD Wells II (Jan), Aubrey Wells (Beth) of Doniphan, and grandchildren, Erin Thompson of Austin, Texas, and HD Wells III of Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harrison, three brothers; William, Noble, and Hugh, four sisters; Sybil, Fay, Lillian, and Mary. Shirley moved to St. Louis after graduating high school, she worked at Bell Telephone. Shirley and Morris Shenberg married and were in the grocery business together. They later moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1971. She returned to Doniphan in 1979. Shirley enjoyed collecting antiques and dolls, painting, her grandchildren, and pursuing her faith. She was a member of First Church of God. She married Harrison Wells on January 28th, 1985. Harrison and Shirley traveled throughout Europe, South America, Asia and Australia in the 80's and 90's. They wintered in Big Pine Key, Florida for many years and made it their permanent home in 2010. Shirley was a member of the Lower Keys Women's Club, the Lower Key's Home Owner's Society, and the Red Hatter's Club. Visitation for Shirley and Harrison will be from 5-8 pm Friday at Edward's Funeral Home. Their funeral will be at 1:00 pm Saturday at First Church of God with the Rev. Larry Bashaw officiating. Burial will be at Bardley Cemetery. Memorial donations are welcome to Alzheimer's Research. http://www.alzfdn.org./ContributetoAFA/makeadonation.html
