Darrel Ray Reed, 56, of Doniphan, Missouri, passed away peacefully on the morning of October 27, 2013, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Darrel was born in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, on October 21, 1957. He was the only child of Dwight and Dathine (Baty) Reed. He lived his entire life in Doniphan. Darrel graduated from Doniphan High School in 1976, and he attended college. He then began working for his dad at Reed Oil Company in Doniphan. Darrel was still employed at Reed Oil Company after 37 years, at the time of his death. Darrel was well-liked throughout the community and he was known for his great sense of humor and loving heart. He enjoyed watching the local basketball teams, hunting, reading and traveling. Darrel was an avid Cardinals fan, and he spent much of his free time on the Current River. Darrel is survived by his parents, Dwight and Janie Reed of Doniphan; Dathine Reed and Leon Haralson of St. Louis; his four children, Samantha Persons of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; Brett Reed of Hartville, Missouri; Haily Boles of Doniphan, Missouri; and Darra French of Birch Tree, Missouri. He is also survived by his five grandchildren: Avery, Reed and Eliana Persons; Brilee Boles and Peyton French. A visitation will be held at Edwards Funeral Home from 5 - 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2013. The funeral service will take place at the Edwards Funeral Home chapel on Wednesday morning, October 30, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the Doniphan City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
